Discover the flavors and philosophy of Kyoto through a hands-on introduction to obanzai, the city's beloved style of home cooking.

Unlike the elaborate cuisine often associated with Kyoto, obanzai celebrates simplicity, seasonality, and a deep respect for ingredients. Built around locally sourced produce and traditional cooking techniques, these dishes reflect generations of culinary wisdom passed down through Kyoto households.

Under the guidance of experienced instructors, guests will learn how to prepare a selection of authentic obanzai dishes using seasonal ingredients while gaining insight into the traditions and values that define Kyoto cuisine. Along the way, discover how resourcefulness, balance, and minimizing waste have long been important elements of Japanese food culture.

After cooking, enjoy the dishes you have prepared and experience firsthand why obanzai remains one of Kyoto's most cherished culinary traditions.
